Aquatherm Solar Pool Heating Compared to Heliocol

Explore the differences between Aquatherm solar pool heating compared to Heliocol before you make a decision on the type of solar panel to install for your pools heating.

You should know because the wrong choice could cost you more time and money than you bargained for. This is especially true if you live in areas prone to high winds or rough storms because harsh weather conditions may damage the solar panels ability to perform.

Quality & Materials

Aquatherm solar pool heating systems use rubber hoses that may cause stains on your roof due to weather conditions. The rubber can become sun damaged and wear out over time needing to be replaced. Metal clamps form the connections for the rubber hoses and need to be checked and tightened every year to stop leaks.

All parts of a Heliocol solar panel are made of a medical grade plastic. The panels have a patented connection which results in a permanent and maintenance free fitting.

Installation

The Aquatherm panels are installed using straps to help hold them in place. High winds can loosen the connections causing leaks in the roof or damage to the solar panel.

Heliocol panels can be anchored into the roof’s trusses. This anchoring stops the connections from coming loose in storms and helps prevent leaks. No straps mean fewer holes in the roof so there is less chance of new leaks appearing. The panels are actually certified to handle Florida wind speeds without hurricane straps so you know they’re secure.

The initial cost of purchasing aquatherm solar panels is lower than that of Heliocol but they need yearly maintenance. On the other hand, Heliocol panels cost more than aquatherm but produce more energy and don’t require yearly maintenance.

Design

Heliocol panels use an individual tube design. There is a space between tubes that allows rain to evaporate so there isn’t excess moisture causing problems on your roof. The individual tubes also allow wind to travel through the openings so there isn’t damage to the panels or the roof during high winds.

Flat roofs require a different fitting than slanting roofs and Heliocol are currently the only panel suitable for them.

There are many differences between these two types of solar panels and you’re making the right decision to educate yourself before buying. Always remember to go with the type of panel that suits your needs and choose a company that will put your best interests before their own.
